What qualifications or training do you hold?
I hold a Masters in Mindfulness Based Approaches with distinction from Bangor University. I have also practiced Mindfulness and meditation for around 15 years. I have been teaching adults in university settings for 25 years, and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I hold degree level qualifications relevant to my previous work teaching and researching in public services management and social policy.
If you teach MBCT, what professional mental health training do you hold?
I come from a teaching and learning background, and am not a trained mental health practitioner. However for continuing professional development training purposes in relation to my teaching, I have attended trainings in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

How do you continually ensure your knowledge and skills are up-to-date?
I stay updated in a number of ways: contact with my supervisor, interaction with members of the teaching communities of which I am part (Bangor University, Mindfulness Network CIC, Mindfulness Association), other professional networking, participation in the key Mindfulness conferences, and ongoing CPD planning.

Maintaining and adhering to appropriate professional and ethical boundaries and frameworks in my work is important to me. I have received training in safeguarding and working with vulnerable adults, in dignity at work, and in diversity and inclusion.
