Description of courses:
Ms Uz Afzal
What qualifications or training do you hold?
I trained in teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction to adults at Bangor University’s Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice. I am also a trainer for MindUP and a trained teacher of the Mindfulness in Schools Project’s .b and Paws b mindfulness curricula.
If you teach MBCT, what professional mental health training do you hold?
How do you continually ensure your knowledge and skills are up-to-date?
I attended the Mindfulness in Schools Project conference earlier this year and found the keynote speech by Mark Williams to be particularly compelling. I purchased recordings of sessions from last year’s CMRP conference. I enrolled on the online Mindfulness Summit in the Autumn last year and found the talks to be both interesting and insightful. I find it helpful to listen to talks once and then listen a second time and make notes. I read widely on the subject of mindfulness and am also a keen attendee at relevant talks.
Do you adhere to appropriate professional and ethical boundaries and frameworks in your work as a mindfulness-based teacher?
I adhere to the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teachers Good Practice Guidelines for Teaching Mindfulness-Based Courses.
